Thanks Be Unto God

“Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place.” 2 Corinthians 14
With Thanksgiving being this week, I’m sure everyone is preparing for big dinners, family get-togethers, and Black Friday shopping. We’ll all talk about how thankful we are for the things that we have, but this is, unfortunately, one of the only times of the year that we’ll talk about being thankful. I saw a sign at a local business last week that read “Thanksgiving isn’t a single day out of the year, it’s a lifestyle.” That’s how it should be, anyway. We are each and everyone blessed in so many ways that we couldn’t begin to number them. As we go through this Thanksgiving holiday, try to remember those that don’t have a family, don’t have a turkey to carve, or don’t even have a house to live in. I’ve heard so many people say “It’s their own fault.”, “They’re just a bunch of druggies.”, “They’re just bumming off people that work hard for their money.” when talking about the less fortunate. I believe the Bible teaches us to love, and help those in need. While Jesus was here on Earth, He didn’t have a home, His own people turned him away, and He didn’t have any money. I wonder if we had lived during that time would we have talked about him like we do the less fortunate. I’m not asking you to go out and give your paycheck to someone else, but please do remember those that don’t have during this Thanksgiving season. They might not have food, fancy clothes, or big family dinners to attend, but the most important thing we can share with them is Jesus Christ, because if they don’t know Him as their personal Savior, they’re headed for Hell. Like the focus verse at the top of this writing states, we can triumph only through Christ. He can and will save anyone if they simply believe in Him as the only begotten Son of God. We need to thank and praise Him each and every day because without Him we would have nothing.
