Wait Upon The Lord

Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord.- Psalms 27:14
The Bible instructs us in many places that we should exercise patience. Patience, by definition, is being able to go through delays, troubles, or suffering with out complaining or getting upset. This thought that God has allowed me to study and preach about recently has really stuck with me. We live in a world where everything is so fast paced. We hurry to our jobs, we hurry to get our work done, and we hurry home. We hurry through this life, and often don’t give thought to God’s greater plan for our lives. I believe if we slow down, meditate on God’s Word, and seek out His will in our lives, patience, among many other blessings, will come to us in due time.
Our main goal as Christians should be to help lead others to Christ. Being a part of someone else’s testimony is one of the greatest blessings you can have. As Christians, we should come together, support one another, and work toward seeing lost souls saved. Not only will we see the church grow, but the Lord will also bless us for our efforts. Psalms 27:14 says to “Wait on the Lord” and “he shall strengthen thine heart”. Wait for the Lord to speak to you, and when He does, follow His leadership and guidance. Don’t wait too long, as you may miss out on a blessing. Sometimes we may get discouraged. We may try time and time again to witness to the lost and may not see immediate results. Wait on the Lord, and He will take care of it. Isaiah 55:11 says “So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.” If we follow the Lord, and do as He would have us to do, results will happen. We may not see them immediately, but God promises us that “it shall not return unto me void”. So keep spreading God’s word, keep telling others about Christ, keep inviting others to church, and continue to seek out the Lord’s will in your life.
If you don’t know Jesus as your personal Savior, there will come a time when you realize that you are lost and that without Him you will die and go to Hell. When that time comes, don’t turn Him away. Salvation is simple:
- realize that you are lost
- believe that Jesus died for our sins, arose from the dead three days later, and ascended to Heaven
- ask Jesus to save you
